calvinhorse 870 Posted August 29, 2006 couple of questions about a vtr xs hybrid conversion with vtr gearbox i have a vtr pully and an xs pully, both the same size/teath but the vtr one is half the weight of the xs item. if i use the lighter one will it have any benefits (big or small) as it does for the flywheel?? should i use the xs flywheel and clutch or the vtr?? thankyou kindly
Sandy 191 Posted August 29, 2006 The pulley should be ok, but the XS clutch probably won't last very well on the VTR engine. I ran one on my VTR/S1 rallye hybrid (1.6) and it slipped unless driven with care, brand new valeo.
welshpug 1,657 Posted August 29, 2006 By pulley I guess you mean Flywheel? if so use the lighter, and the biggest clutch if the VTR one uses a bigger friction plate (but I guess not if the flywheel is the same bar the weight)
calvinhorse 870 Posted August 30, 2006 By pulley I guess you mean Flywheel? by pully i mean cam pully.
christopher 5 1 Cars Posted August 30, 2006 i have a vtr pully and an xs pully, both the same size/teath but the vtr one is half the weight of the xs item. I thought they were all the same If one is lighter and the same teeth pattern then I suppose use the lighter one...Don't think the inertia effect of a reduction in weight that small will make any noticable difference though. calvinhorse 870 Posted September 14, 2006 just found out the vtr cam wheel doesnt fit the xs head, it fits slightly closer to the head. and the cambelt sits very close to the edge of the wheel which i didnt like the look of! my engine is now fully rebuilt and im just lookin for a gearbox!
