Speedo Cable And Lift Up Reverse Cable Problems?

Recommended Posts

matt205xs

speedo cable - i have fitted the cog and the put the inner cable into the cog with the plastic housing and bolted it up,

the only problem is, is that when its bolted i can still pul the cable out of the housing?

does it sit loose or is the cable supposed to be attached to the rubber part of the housing?

i have a be1 lift up reverse gearbox, and currently on the gear lever in the car the white plastic fitting were the cable clicks into is loose and moves, how is this fixed to the gear lever?? ive noticed a small hole but no thread on it, should there be a grub screw or something which holds it on?

thanks

The speedo cable is retained with a tapered rubber bung , that you pull through the top of the housing. no doubt someone will have a photo to put up on here .

it sounds as if yours is missing

there is a rubber grommit sort of thing which pushes in to the platic housing but the cable is still loose in this,
