c_r_thomson 0 Posted August 28, 2006 Come on people! I've seen the pictures of some of your engine bays and you guys know what to clean/avoid and the best cleaner for the job.
pacey205 2 Posted August 28, 2006 To be fair a bit more detail wouldnt go amiss. What exactly do you want to clean, the head, the block, the engine bay itself ? If its the head or other engine bits Id suggest parafin and a brush (i.e. old toothbrush) to remove carbon, caked on s*it etc. Even better would be to get it cleaned in a parafin tank at your local engine rebuilder or something. Cleanign the engine bay itself, Gunk or similar, stiff brush (but not so stiff to scratch the paint) and alot of elbow grease. HTH Michael
c_r_thomson 0 Posted August 28, 2006 Thanks Michael I'm mostly interested in cleaning the block. It's covered in old oil! Wouldn't mind polishing up the inlet manifold etc while i'm at it. Any tips?

mickie 3 Posted August 28, 2006 to clean oil you can get degreeser at most places.. cleaning carbon off was hard i found so i just used wet and dry sand paper.. also cleaning wires and stuff like that i would use WD40
Guest BrainFluid Posted August 28, 2006 Petrols the best to clean with, but not on your paint work. See your other thread for full explanation....
