Suitable Cable For Alternator/starter?

Just wondering weather some audio 4 Gauge cable is suitable to use to link the battery to the alternator and starter? Im NOT relocating the battery (yet!) so will only be about 2 foot long or so...

I want to use it 'cos the old cable is crap, and this is nice and red

i just bought two different lengths of thick earth cable from my local auto factors with ring connectors on each end as long as its thick enough and well insulated should be fine
