tidypug 5 2 Cars Posted August 20, 2006 Ever since i changed the 5th gear on my gearbox there has been a notch when you select first gear. It doesn't crunch into to gear there's just the notch. I have the box off at the mo and want to try to sort this annoying little niggle out before i put it back on. Has anyone had this problem? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
matt1900 0 Posted August 20, 2006 both the gti's ive had were notchy going into first, i just put it down to the boxes being a bit old and nakered, ive got expensive synthetic gear oil in it now, which has helped a fair bit especially when cold. couldn't tell you exactly what causes it though.
