alternatengine 0 Posted August 20, 2006 Front Bumper brake vents, for standard 1.9 gti front bumper. Where are they available from does anyone know except Ecosse. What colour they are unpainted. How they are fitted. Any info would be much appreciated
sonofsam 5 Posted August 20, 2006 Im guessing by the looks of the Ecosse ones they are plastic and probably come in white and would be bonded on from the back. I've never seen them made by anyone else.Well... These are the ones I span @ work out of aluminium. So if you did want to visit your local friendly metal spinning shop they may be able to knock you something up Going to be doing something similar again soon with my new valance, maybe twin ports in each driving light aperture, though that maybe overkill lol Cheers Sam. Rik 0 Posted August 20, 2006 Sonofsam: Do you have any dimensions/drawings for those vents? I've never thought to make mu own it would be pretty simple.. Rik
sonofsam 5 Posted August 20, 2006 Yeh its simple if your a metal spinner with a lathe No sorry no dims. just used an old Weber venturi chuck we had lying around. The face you see was circular, i had to trim to fit neatly.
Rik 0 Posted August 21, 2006 You used a lathe?!? I'd of thought these could be fabricated fairly easily using a fly press and a good hand with the trimmer/file?? How bigs the hole if you remember? Rik
sonofsam 5 Posted August 21, 2006 Yes Plenty of pictures of the process in there http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?s...pic=54531&st=10 It was a cone shape bore, entry about 90mm and exit 40mm. Fly press would also work to a certain extent yes.
