Would It Work

Recommended Posts

205mattgti

I was wondering the other day. The scoobys use a water spray into the intercooler, would it work and have a similar effect if i was to use a fine mist and spray it infront of the twin 45 webber carbs

just a thought on a hot day

any help is appricated.

cheers

matt

mope wont work as engines dont like water getting inside them.

Water injecton on a TURBO car is good as it reduces the intake temperature of the forced induction. Also the heat will evaporate the water before it gets into the piston area.

Water injection isn't even something you can consider on an NA car

Surely if you atomized the water it would work? Hydrogen and oxygen are two of the most flammable materials around?

Atomizing water doesn't split it into hydrogen and oxygen. You'd need to rig up some sort of electrolysis equipment and it would be waaaay more trouble than it's worth.

So no, not really feasible.

But the water on a scooby doesn't go anywhere near the pistons, it just cools the intercooler?

i am not p[lannig in spraying the water inthe trumpets

just a mist infront of them

was hoping it would make the air denser before it went intothe carbs

would you also trust spraying water under the bonnet with the electrics of a 205?! are you crazy man!

if you really want to keep temps down, there are other ways.

Your thinking of the intercooler water spray... I'm on about stuff like Aquamist, something compeltely different

Never really understood how spraying a non flamible substnace into an engine could boost power outputs, especially as that substance is occupying space which could otherwise have air in it.

just use nitrous! im guessing that spraying water into the engine or just infront of the air intake aka getting sucked in aint to good for it!

It had me confused for a while too, I did a bit of reading about it and now I'm mildly less confused...

It's more to lower temperatures in the cylinder and stop detonation or dodgy flame fronts, than to directly increase power. Although it does indirectly increase the power as it lets you run more boost.

Aquamist is rubbish anyway as the jets always block up. No good when your running mega boost and it stops working...

Thanks for that link, was really interesting. Also good as a mate has been saying that he wants to do a water injection to his Primera and he's never convinced me how it works. This proves that it wont work on a naturally asparated engine.

Ooops off topic, SORRY
