1.9 Pre 1990 Engine Into Phase2 Post 1990 1.6 Gti

I have the reverse situation to a question posted recently. I have acquired a nice 1.9 engine to replace my present 1.6. The engine in my 1990 gti has the coil on the manifold, the 1.9,s coil was mounted as we know differently being an older car. Apart from AFM ,ECU & Injectors which i all have. What,s the solution to the coil position difference in my case? Also my car has no catalyst hence no worry there. As i guess that would mean a complete loom change..

Just use the 1.6 inlet manifold and coil, this means no loom change. Then all you need to swap is ECU, AFM and injectors.

i just done this conversion, u need 2 "adapt" the lead that goes onto the coil if ure using hte 1.9 leads, just take an end from the 1.6 leads and cut a bit off and stick it on.

im running mine with the 1.6 ecu and afm atm lol its really rich but very fast.

im heavy chuffed wit hteh results and it aint even runngin right! well worht it
