methebmxer 0 Posted August 16, 2006 Wasnt sure where to stick this topic as I dont know what the problem is. Basically I noticed tonight that with the headlights on dip or full beam when coasting they seem dimmer than they should be but as soon as I give it some revs they become bright. Not noticed it happen before. Basicaly if I pump the accelerator it goes dim-bright-dim-bright etc. I tried it with the clutch dipped and it doesnt happen (just stays dim). Not noticed any other problems and have driven roughly 30 miles this evening like it. Does this sound like alternater trouble? If so I have a spare alternater I could try but its on a 1.6 and my car is a 1.9. Will this make any differance?. Cheers

Rob_the_Sparky 9 Posted August 17, 2006 It is the voltage dropping, this could be alternator or could be due to you having a high load (e.g. big amplifiers, high power headlights etc) or due to a poor alternator. 1.6 and 1.9 alternators are the same so you can try this.
