r.u.sure 0 Posted August 15, 2006 I know through reading other posts that other people have either removed or had their ABS removed and was wondering a couple of things. How do you stand with regard to MOT and insurance and Roughly how much it would cost to have it removed as it's not the sort of thing I could do myself and who could do it for me ? Many thanks Dave
jackherer 543 Posted August 15, 2006 on my mates 205 the abs controller block itself is still in place, but unplugged. The bulb is out of the dashboard and so far no mot tester has noticed it..... same goes for an unassisted pas rack, thats technically a failure but one you'll get away with nine times out of ten. t16ryan 1 Posted August 15, 2006 technically if the car is fitted with ABS it has to work, ie the light should go out after so many seconds after ignition is turned on most MOT testers may not notice but is supposed to be checked
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted August 15, 2006 As the ABS and Power Steering was always a option (Bar the ltd ed models) the insurance & MOT people will never know if it had it or not so no problems there. I took Dino's ABS out of service due to running out of time, I replaced all the brake pipes front to back which means tank almost out and exhaust droped to get the pipes routed as they should, I;ve seen a few times the pipes routes under the side of the tank which isn;t that good as it leaves them exposed abit. Drop me a PM and I can discuss further with you.
KRISKARRERA 2 1 Cars Posted August 16, 2006 Just for info, all Mi16s had ABS as standard and Miles removed mine and replaced it with the conventional non-abs 405 set up and my car has passed with no problems under the new MOT system.
