Quick Off The Cuff Question About Oil Temp Sensor

Was just wondering, as I've never had my car hot enough to find out, does the oil tempearture guage warning light work, or is it the guage only?

 

Reason I ask is cos I was thinking about the sensor loom and it occured to me that the coolant side has seperate sensors for the guage and the warning light, the oil pressure has seperate sensors for the guage and the warning light, but the oil temp only has the one sensor in the sump.

 

Or am I forgetting something obvious?

there isnt a warning lamp for oil temp, it just looks like there is.

 

all the warning lamps (should) come on when you turn the ignition on. (with the exception of coolant level)
