Clip That Holds The Two Brake Lines Above The Beam

Recommended Posts

Guest rick03054

I'm trying to change my rear brake lines (1.9) and I cant get to the clip that holds the flexi to the solid line from the compensator. There just doesn't seem to be room for my hand and the mole grips (or anything else I've tried for that matter) between the beam and the boot floor.

I can't get a decent grip on it to pull it out. Is there a trick to it or am I going to have to drop the beam? ;)

EDIT: And the nut for the bracket that holds it looks a bit worse for wear, like it'd crumble if I tried to take it off.

Just knock it from the other end with a hammer and chisel, or knock it from side to side with a hammer to break it's grip and then just pull it out.

Cheers nick, that worked fine for one side. But the other side turned into a nightmare! the clip was round the other way for some reason, needed pulled out towards the wheel. So I thought I could maybe knock it out from the inside. No such luck, a couple of hits later and I had managed to twist the bracket and make a hole in the boot floor.

Looks like I'll have to drop the tank to get it welded, a bit close IMO, what do you lot think?

You should be able to hammer the clips around with a screwdriver so that they are facing the way you need them to. I usually work in the wheel arch and hammer them downwards so that there is no chance of slipping and damaging the bodywork.
