Respray Advice

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

When I bought my gti about 5 years ago it lived by the sea and so had a couple of bits of rust so I decided to have the whole car blown over.

When I had this done I used a new pattern wing and bonnet which are now rusting badly. I'd like to have this repaired and was wondering what would be the best (cheapest option):

1. Have current wing/bonnet repaired/flatted back and resprayed (but probably lots of labour to prepare)?

2. Use new pattern parts again and take to a better body shop? (so hopefully wont rust as quick again)

3. Use genuine second hand peugeot parts (will this still involve a lot of prep if in a different colour?)?

My car is sorrento if that makes a differnce?

Greatful for any advice

James

If your keeping the car then the OE panels are really the only way to go, The bonnet is easy as there's loads of S/H ones out there, The wong thou will have to be new due to the amount of sealer used on them.

Make sure even with these both sides of the wing are painted/undersealed

Cheers for the advice,

Alastairh I'm interested in the wing and possibly the auto bonnet but can't really afford the postage on top of the parts price. Where is the South meet, SW or SE - maybe we could arrange to meet?
