Dark Grey Wheel Paint...........

Recommended Posts

PugAddict

Was gonna go for the Hammerite smooth matt black in a spray can, but I reckon this will be to dark for my liking

Where can I get some decent wheel paint in a matt dark grey colour?

Cheers

B) They do matey but no dark grey I'm sorry to report :(

Ideally I want the same stuff as the Hammerite 'straight to rust/metal' spray cans, just in matt dark grey which they don't seem to do

Ah cool, I'll see if I can search out the Simoniz stuff, cheers dude ;) Do you just spray the stuff straight onto the wheels?

GKZ, is the Ford paint a normal paint in a spray can, and is it easy to apply? Would I need to do the whole primer/paint/laquer thing? Any pics of your wheels? :D

It is a normal spray can made by hycote. Very easy and I was surprised with the end finish I had!! I sprayed mine straight on without any primer or lacquer and its be on for almost a year an is still ok. But my wheels were not totally bear metal, it was only where the corrosion was where it was bear metal.

The car in my aviater has the wheels on if you can see that.

Search for painting wheels my friend there are loads of threads about it. I used a etch primer on mine after sanding down. Then two layers of dark metallic grey (volvo colour) and then a can of lacquer per wheel. All in all it took about 3 hours a wheel + drying time of course but was really impressed with the quality you can get from a can.

As sonofsam says its in the preperation. The more you put in the more you get out with paint.
