309PUG 2 1 Cars Posted August 7, 2006 Currently running LEDA coil overs, what do people think would be the effect of running 7" long springs as opposed to 8" ?? If I chose an 1" shorter spring do I need to up the spring rate slightly to compensate or stick with the same poundage ? Would there be any adverse effects to the handling ??? Thoughts please Chris
Sandy 191 Posted August 7, 2006 Depnds what rate you're running now, how much free length you have and what the corner weight is?
309PUG 2 1 Cars Posted August 7, 2006 Depnds what rate you're running now, how much free length you have and what the corner weight is? Currently have 325lb 8"springs, what do you mean exactly relating to free length, and have not got a clue what the corner weight is. All I know is that the total weight is around 880Kg Chris
Sandy 191 Posted August 7, 2006 When the damper is fully extended, what is the distance between the spring seats? This dictates wether or not the spring will dislocate on full droop. You should only really increase the spring rate to solve a problem, other wise you should always run the softest springs that work in terms of roll, pitch and front- rear balance.
