GLPoomobile 958 Posted August 4, 2006 Depends if you mean the handle to flip the seat forward or the knob to adjust the angle that the seat back reclines at. The flip handle lays outbourd on each side, nearest the door. The adjustment knob lays inboard, towards the handbrake.

The flip handle lays outbourd on each side, nearest the door. The adjustment knob lays inboard, towards the handbrake. I meant the adjuster knob to tilt it back. Have been looking at some pics and you have now confirmed it. My drivers seat is a passenger one the tilt adjuster is toward the door not the handbrake. wondered why the plastic trim on the new subframe looked like it would not fit. New drivers seat required anyone got one then in good nick red/black
TEKNOPUG 3 Posted August 4, 2006 No, no, no. It's very common for passenger seats to be swapped over to the drivers as the drivers seat obviuosly wears a lot more than the passenger one, particularly the bolsters. Is it really worth the hassle and expense of trying to find a good condition drivers seat? You can always swap the frames over. It only becomes a slight problem if the seat release lever rubs against the tolt knob. But the lever can easily be bent to one side a little. Spend your cash on making the car go faster, stop better! GLPoomobile 958 Posted August 4, 2006 As per Teknopug you can swap the frames. I did this and it is a ballache when you do your first seat. It does mean that rather than holding out for a good drivers seat you can get one functional drivers seat frame and one good passenger seat (should be plenty around) and just stick the good padding, bolsters and trim onto the drivers frame and ouila! ste996 0 Posted August 4, 2006 all good tips thanks. From what i've learned so far, My drivers seat has already been swapped for a passengers one and fitted to the drivers subframe when i got the car. Thats why the plastic side trim is missing(side of seat) and when looking at the replacement subframe will not fit then because the recline knob is on the wrong side. Will take of this bit of trim, bolt seat to new frame and roberts your mothers brother, no more wobbly seat.
steve@cornwall 100 Posted August 4, 2006 always seems we should try and get together with our continental neighbours to swap seats!! with their driver's seats being our passenger's our good passenger seats should be worth loads to continental enthusiasts. Anyone live close enough to a ferry port ?

Edp 67 3 Cars Posted August 5, 2006 Ive just finished taking apart a good phase 2 cloth passenger seat and putting all the parts on a drivers frame. I even reused the little metal clips which take ages to do using pliers. I'm really happy with the outcome. I reinforced both bolsters with some carpet tape underneath the cloth too so that should last longer. I will give it a hoover and post some pictures.
