205mattgti 0 Posted August 3, 2006 mine is outside and next to the fuel tank
Guest ashnicholls Posted August 3, 2006 Outside what on the sill or the arch?????? Ok cheers but was meaning in the engine bay.
Craigb 2 Posted August 4, 2006 the facet will work best situated near the fuel tank , and then use a fuel regulator in the engine bay . Unless you are using an additional pump to get the fuel to the facet , i think you may have fuel issues
Guest ashnicholls Posted August 4, 2006 (edited) I thought the silver top could be mounted in the engine bay? Im sure it said that in the instructions that i have now lost. I was meaning more what to attach it to in the engine bay ie passanger side back corner?. Cheers Edited August 4, 2006 by ashnicholls

matt205xs 0 Posted August 4, 2006 mine is mounted under the expansion tank, i thought it was only the solid state pumps which pushed better than pulled, and red/silver tops can do both easily?
Daz_C 8 1 Cars Posted August 4, 2006 I agree a Red Top can be mounted either way as a pusher or puller. Mine has been in the engine bay where the jack normally goes for numerous years and have had no fueling issues with it being there.
Guest ashnicholls Posted August 4, 2006 Where does the jack go? Dont have one in mine? Under the expansion tank sounds good. Cheers
pug309twin40s 1 Posted August 4, 2006 he means he has his pump behind the passenger front headlight as thats usually where the jack is on 205's.
boldy205 75 Posted August 4, 2006 do you need a facet? can u not just use the std injection pump(in tank) and a regulator in the engine bay?
pug309twin40s 1 Posted August 4, 2006 do you need a facet? can u not just use the std injection pump(in tank) and a regulator in the engine bay? nope as his car is an 309 1.1 carb engine originally. which uses a manual fuel pump.
pug_ham 245 3 Cars Posted August 5, 2006 he means he has his pump behind the passenger front headlight as thats usually where the jack is on 205's.No it doesn't, the jack is usually held to the driverside inner wing, screen wash bottle is on passenger side. pug309twin40s 1 Posted August 5, 2006 oops my mistake. i meant the drivers side
Guest ashnicholls Posted August 5, 2006 Where does the fuel line run on a 309? Down the drivers side? Or the passenger side?
pug309twin40s 1 Posted August 5, 2006 Where does the fuel line run on a 309? Down the drivers side? Or the passenger side? gti models drivers side and comes up by brake servo. yours i think might come up passenger side. just have a look in your engine bay and see where the fuel lines run. Trick 1 Posted October 16, 2006 (edited) Hi, Im having issues with my pump and install: at the RR setup they said that the current pump needed to be replaced because it would not cope with the fueling requirements at greater loads (ie. after engine is run in, and its properly set up and floored ) But this suprises me seeing as others run the same config (mi16 & 45s) with standard pump & reg. Ive just read this: Thread And it appears i have a solid state pump (& reg just before carbs)...and here is where it is installed... FUel pump Sounds to me like it is in the wrong place - if its solid state then it should be nearer to the tank on the back. Maybe i`ll get it re-positioned before i end up forking out yet more money (on a new pump)!! Comments? Edited October 16, 2006 by Trick

(well, 2 regs) What are the benifits of running a facet pump.
Trick 1 Posted October 17, 2006 none as far as i can see, but i was told i needed one..turns out i could of used the std pump!!! which inlet manifold are you using on yr 205?
driversdomainuk 8 Posted October 17, 2006 I have just bought a Silver top, mounted inside the car just above the fuel tank. According to the insturctions the pump should be no more than 24 inches vertically mounted from the fuel tank
Guest clarky205 Posted November 29, 2006 Phat205 How have you got this setup as i was thinking of doing something similar but thought that the standard pump would be at to higher pressure for the carbs to take even with a regulator? Also how do you get round having a return to the tank for the excess fuel/pressure so that the pump does not burn out?
