j-16 1 Posted August 2, 2006 It does fit straight on Its got shorter ratios so potentially could be a bit quicker if you've got traction It doesn't suit the characteristics of the 1900 engine as well as the 1900 gearbox. You will be doing about 4000rpm at 70mph. Stick with 1900 gearbox, its perfectly matched to the engine + weight of the car. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Depends what kind of driving you do- I do mainly local driving with the need to pass "emmets" as quickly as poss.- 1.9 with 1.6 box is great for this and such fun! The couple of times I've used it on dual carriageways for any distance- It's a pain. Hits rev limit in 5th! Still I guess the revs are no worse than in a standard 1.6!
