Need Id On This Filter

The filter is bbout 50mm long & 10mm dia. It came in the packet with the valve stem seals but I can't see where it goes.

Is it needed? If so where?

TBH Alex, it looks very much like a fuel filter for the mechanical fuel pump fitted to lesser 205s. Usually the gasket sets cover all the XU variants and have a gasket for everything conceivable. My last one came with carb gaskets, mechanical fuel pump gaskets and at least three different inlet manifold gaskets.

I'll consult the oracle for a full answer but IIRC, this is not needed on the GTi engine...

See you Thrusday Morning... PM me if there is anyhing else you need me to bring along...

thats the oil filter that sits in the cylinder head.

if you look at the cylinder head face, and look at 1 end(either left corner or right corner) there should be a hole that slants at an angle into the head(might still have the old filter in it if you havent removed it already)

thats where the filter goes.

Indeed it is! Page 60 of the "Orange" Haynes clearly shows it....
