ok, so i put my foot down on a straight road and notice the car pulls slightly to one side and when i take my foot off, it pulls to the other.

instantly thought the inner bushes had gone so ive replaced both wishbones (as they needed doing anyway)

its helped it abit, but its still there...

any suggestions anybody?

Ovalled hub? where the wishbone sits in the bottom of the hub these can become ovalled and cause the symptoms you describe. Pain in the ass and easier to just get a decent 2nd hand hub and swap it over. Obviously the best thing to do is jack it up and see where the play is coming from.

On a base model? Wishbones are different on a GTi and I can't see how it would cause this give the design of a GTI suspension.

Also worth checking the top mounts and the subframes on tight.

I'd have the tracking checked for sure.

Had the same symptoms after I put my mi16 together - really quite a significant pull under acceleration, and a correspnding pull the other way of deceleration.

Turns out the tracking was out on one of the front wheels.

cheers guys, a few things to bear in mind.

will hopefully be replacing all the bushes, mounts etc ready for a conversion next year, so ive got alot of parts to replace so im sure i'll find out what it is on the way.

its not half as bad now with the new wishbones, but i think they may have adjusted the tracking slightly, and now ive lowered the front also i think i'll get it tracked before long!

Cheers
