brianthemagical 1 Posted July 28, 2006 i have a bit of a problem. the outer two spark plugs are whtie and powdery (lean?) but the center two are slightly brown, dry and look good. any ideas. i'm thinking of richening the mixture a bit but without an exhaust gas analyiser is this this a good idea. any where an analyiser can be bought? how do i go about altering the mixture, is it just the skrew on the afm, if so which way. thanks for the help. pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted July 29, 2006 AFAIK the screw on the AFM only adjusts the mixture at idle & not through out the rev range. Rather than buying a gas analyser & DIYing, you'd be best taking the car to a decent rolling road tuner to have it fully checked over & adjusted properly imo. Cheaper than a blown engine. Graham. brianthemagical 1 Posted July 29, 2006 i used to take iut to the local rolling road, they changed the cam belt and starter motor in feb and apparently had to RR the car, at my expense despit not asking for it, because the old cam belt was out. the starter stoped working, it was only a basic wiring fault or something but they charged me £55 to do a diagnostics and set the idle, which was wrong and exactly as i left it and they ajusted the mixture to what it is now. the starter motor went again tonight, out of the blue, but started after i disconected and connected the battery. the only person i will trust is myself, which is just as bad for the car.
