acox99 74 1 Cars Posted July 28, 2006 Im building an mi16 track car, have taken the whole dash out and fuse box, but what about wiring from the ecu, is this compatable with mi16, will be using after market ecu eg. emerald, do u have to use an mi wiring loom or is it easy to convert/ make your own loom out the existing 1.9 loom, we are going to use a lightweight fuse box as we will be using minimal electronics. cant find any archived posts on this. cheers
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted July 29, 2006 The 8v ecu wiring is of limited use with an Mi16 if you are running it on carbs but even then the proper Mi loom is better. If you are fitting an aftermarket ecu then none of the original ecu wiring will be needed as you have to make a suitable loom from scratch for the Emerald etc afaik. Rather than getting a lightweight fusebox (unless you are specifically getting one with circuit breakers rather than fuses) just keep the standard one & remove all the plugs you don't need. Graham.
