Car Won't Try And Start, Buzzing Noise

Recommended Posts

Moys1.9

Hi. Just rebuilt my 1.9 8v engine and when I try and start it, it just makes a buzzing noise. all the dash lights and electrics seem okay. Took off the inlet manifold and took a look at t starter motor. There are 2 bolted on wires (earth and power wires) at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock. There are 2 terminals in between these at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock which look like they should have wires attached. Any ideas anyone. cheers

The starter motor should definately have a wire connected which comes from the loom. Should be light blue (I think) and slightly thicker than the other wires which go to the engine sensors. It goes to the brown multi plug along with the sensor wiring.

When I recently put a new engine in I had the same problem then found I had connected a sensor wire to the starter by mistake but after correcting this it started first time.

Hope this helps, good luck.

That was it cheers. It was just a lousy spade connector.

Can't believe it. Our first attempt at an engine rebuild and ( when t starter was sorted of course) it started as soon as I turned the key :):):) . Timing at the dizzy still needs adjusting also the oil pressure sensor isn't connected and a radiator hose is still leaking but it ran on four and is a sound I've missed since January.

This forum is a Godsend ;)
