Pug_sport 0 Posted July 26, 2006 I have a 1.6 GTi and i want it to stay looking like one ie: Wheels. BUT are the standard brakes good enough to handle an Mi? If not what can I do with them without changing the Wheels?
S33GAV 0 Posted July 26, 2006 ATE powerdiscs and mintex 1144 pads are a good cheapish upgrade well worth doing. I had this on my 1.6 mi16 and was alot better than standard
Anthony 1,003 Posted July 26, 2006 1.6 calipers that are in good working order will be fine for Mi16 power with some decent pads as Gav suggested above, but alot of 1.6 calipers have worn sliders and give poor braking regardless. 1.9 calipers don't suffer from this problem and are a straight swap, and will be fine with decent pads on them. If you don't mind swapping the hubs, you should be able to fit 266mm brakes from a 306 XSi/HDi/S16 (and others) under the 14's
Edp 67 3 Cars Posted July 26, 2006 I think standard 1.6 brakes are fine for a 'standard' Mi. Maxi has an Mi which has 216bhp on 1.6 brakes. Although he does want to change them now!
