Oil Surge

Recommended Posts

right i know that the mi suffers from oil surge, due to the head having poor oil return. this leads to spinning shells and a fubar engine. I have a friend a good frind i can add who works for the Tcs (Swiss RAC) and they use a local garage, and in this garage they have a clio 172 with no oil in the engne and it runs fine? basially they use an additive that you put inside that coats everything with a protective film.

now i can all hear you going yeah yeah what ever.

well you pull the dip stick out and it is clean and the oil cap has been sealid with a tag so it cant be opened. now thwe xar runs and is annevery day driver.

now i reckon im ging to chuck some into mine just for saftey

has any one else seen these tests being done?

Gavin

Snakeoil

I doubt there is anything that can withstand the forces and heat involved any longer than a very short while.

As long as it's only very lightly loaded, any engine will run for a very long time with no oil in it. Idling, it'll go on for ever. Hence the scam.

Drive at 40MPH with no oil and you'll get about 60 miles before the engine dies if you drive gently.

Oil not only provides a film to keep metal surfaces apart, it provides cooling and without the cooling effect of copious quantities of oil flowing around, any protective film will berak down eventually due to heat.

As everone else has said, you're looking at 100% finest snake oil.

My oil pump chain came off shearing the sprocket of with it at 7000rpm at Lydden. The loss of power was instant - i immediately slowed and coasted to the pits. Just that though ruined the shells.
