Xu10 Sump

Recommended Posts

Finally got round to fitting my GTi6 sump today along with the little oil pump baffle.

Can someone tell me what you do with the oil temperature switch? Tried to swop over for the old one but they are different sizes.

Is it a matter of earthing one side of the Gti6 switch with other going to the oil temperature gauge on the dash?

Also, you can't fit the remote oil cooler back onto the gearbox using this sump. Got to fabricate a little bracket tomorrow to make it fit.

Thanks

I have a xu10 sump with the 2 pin oil temp connector. I bought the oil temp wire round the front of the engine and crimped a spade connector onto the end. Just push it onto one of the 2 available pins in the connector. 1 will work and 1 wont.

Get an oil temp sender for a late model 205 that has a smaller thread size, should fit straight in.

As Rich says, just connect the existing wire to one of the pins on the connector and the gauge subjectively seems to work as before - or atleast I noticed little variance between the old sender and the new one when I put my XU10 sump on :D

What if the sump your using does'nt have anything to connect to the sender and is just smooth all the way round short of the drain plug

Sump in question is off a 306 S16 btw, any ideas people?

All the XU10 sump's I;ve seen, S16 tin & Alloy, GTi6 Alloy and XSi's all have the hole for the Temp sensor in the front of the sump, SOunds like a odd one there

Im guessing it would have been on the right hand side then.

Great, so i have probably one of the only sumps in existance without the hole

One idea somebody suggested, was drilling a hole through the drain plug and mounting it in that.

Good idea? or just get another sump?

looks like a td sump you have on there. Ive got a spare 1.9 8v sump and spacer plate if it will fit and sort out the problem?
