stutto 0 Posted July 24, 2006 I have struggled with removing old bushes and trying to fit the horrible yellow bushes. Managed to eventually get them in but I fitted the in the same directions as the OE and now I can't get the wishbone back in place as the lips are significantly larger. Do I need to fit them so they both face the same direction? I didnt need this after the fight to get them in, I am seriously tempted to just get a new Peugeot kit and throw them in the bin. 16v205 9 Posted July 24, 2006 Hi I fitted the red polyrace bushes on mine a few weeks ago, they were a pain in the arse aswell. Made it a little bit easier by adding a very small chamfer on the edge of the bush just to stop the sharp corner catching, and rubbing moly grease on the metal work the bush was about to sit into. Still needed a good few wacks with a mallet to make them go in though. Rich
jackherer 543 Posted July 24, 2006 they are a pain to fit and they don't tend to last very long either. the standard pug ones are about £17 including vat from dealers with new nuts bolts and washers and are as good as you need on a 205. On saturday I ripped off some red poly bushes that were on my mates 205 and had started creaking after no more than 18 months, replaced them with OE bushes and its so much tighter, the poly bushes were causing some very odd handling effects, the car seemed to turn in at the front with the rear following a bit later... 16v205 9 Posted July 24, 2006 I used to chomp through gsf bushes at an alarming rate, even the peugeot ones lasted only a few months. If the red poly ones last on my car until christmas time ill be happy lol Rich
tagy 1 Posted July 24, 2006 I'm going to change my polyrace bushes to peugeot ones. They have started creeking after about a year, and are too crashy for the roads around me.
kyepan 291 Posted July 24, 2006 A bit of copper slip and a bit of "persuasion" helped get powerflex ones in.
GTI-6Sam 0 Posted July 24, 2006 What bushes are recommended polyrace or powerflex or is there little difference
kyepan 291 Posted July 24, 2006 A bit of copper slip and a bit of "persuasion" helped get powerflex ones in. thinking back, yes they were a pig to get in, cleaning off the grime and road dirt with a wire brush and wd40 around the area gave the extra room to get them in nicely. stutto 0 Posted July 24, 2006 I just found that because the lip is much bigger than the OE bushes, if you fit them both with the lips on the outside that it (the wishbone) just won't go back into place. It seems like 5mm too much. I guess it may be possible to force the wishbone in. Also they protruded from the non lip side much further than I expected and this then increased when I put the centre sleeve in. The neighbours have heard every swear word I know. I have ordered some from Pug, £14.62 plus VAT and the yellow rubbish can go in the bin. Anyone want to buy one side of yellow poly bushes, never fitted?
