Guest leegt Posted July 23, 2006 (edited) having just ripped the engine and box out and not noting gear postions i am now in need of a bit of help! if you look at the box, where the selectors come out of the box (be3) i need to know at what postion they need to be for each gear. it would be ace if someone had some pics as this would make it a lot easier. hope this makes sense, cheers everyone, lee (reason i need them is cos engine is in the back) Edited July 23, 2006 by leegt
jackherer 543 Posted July 23, 2006 hope this makes sense I think so.... of the two levers one will click into place as you move it to either side, this translates to forward/backward movement of the gearstick, if it moves left (towards pass wing) its selecting 1st/3rd/5th and if it moves right its selecting 2nd/4th/R the other lever (the one that doesn't click into place at the fullest extents of its movement) translates to the left/right movement of the gearstick, so moving it to the left (pass wing) enables the first lever to select between 1st/2nd and to the right its 5th/R and if its left in place the first lever selects 3rd or 4th. hope that makes sense (and is what you wanted to know...) Guest leegt Posted July 24, 2006 think i have the picture could anyone please host it just so everyone knows what i'm rambling on about thanks in advance lee http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m99/lee_gt/100_0359.jpg
pug_ham 245 3 Cars Posted July 25, 2006 In your picture, the selector arm to the right is the one that translates to sideways movement of the gearstick & the left one is the gear selection. AFAIK you can't cross connect the gear rods anyway though. The shorter rod goes to the side to side selector arm & the long rod to the gear selection arm. Graham. Guest leegt Posted July 25, 2006 (edited) so i take it that first gear is, the selector on the left clicks left and the selector on the right does nothing? then for second the selector on the left goes to central postion and selector on the right goes right? hope this is right, excuse my stupidness its too hot! cheers lee just to remind everyone the engine is in the back so i could get gear rods wrong, cos i will be using cables. thanks again lee Edited July 25, 2006 by leegt
jackherer 543 Posted July 25, 2006 so i take it that first gear is, the selector on the left clicks left and the selector on the right does nothing? no thats third. move that lever the other way and you get fourth. now move the lever that did nothing to the left and hold it then the left hand lever will choose between 1st and 2nd rather than 3rd and 4th. finally move the right hand lever to the right and the first lever chooses between 5th and rev.
