boombang 2 Posted July 22, 2006 The 309 used to smoke a little from the dipstick tube but only very veyr slightly and when very hot - as I would normally expect. The old dipstick had lost the seal bit as they usually do so bought a new one. Now it seems to smoke from the exhaust - and quite a lot. I am so damn tired due to a few booxy nights, thunderstorm last night + early start for rallyday and can't think too clearly but is down to crankcase pressure was being released through dippy tube, now isn't so is being forced through breather pipes into inlet? (due to worn rings). Or have I lost the plot. Colours seem strange and my vision is slightly blurred. Picking a mate up from the airport at midnight shall be fun

boombang 2 Posted July 22, 2006 Thankfully tis not a big issue on a £225 car. Plan is to drive it till death or MOT failure then I get bits - not bothering to do much as it needs so many bits! Brakes and new screen are priorities and other than that we'll only throw £50 or so at it till we just write it off. I may go have a play with it tomorrow and clean out the throttle body and breather but can't think of any other reason it would smoke so much - if the breather were blocked I would expect all smoke through dippy.
