Jrod 7 Posted July 21, 2006 Right well i fitted this the other day and had problems with the back box but blergh thats unrelated to this I didn't tighten up all the bolts as i didnt have a backbox but have gone to tighten them up now and have seen how far off it is from fitting. The join to the downpipe is different from the 1.4 to the 1.1 centre Do I have the wrong exhaust (mine has a split about 2 foot down where it goes into 2 pipes for a foot or so then goes back into 1) or do i need the downpipe aswell? Pic so you see what i mean about the exhaust.
Sandy 191 Posted July 22, 2006 Have they perhaps given you one for the earlier XW/XY engine? (pre 87).
Jrod 7 Posted July 22, 2006 I've no idea, in all fairness they did rush around becuase it was nearly 5pm on a friday. The backbox is a slip on not a olive, does that mean anything?
timmsy19 3 Posted July 22, 2006 i think its meant to be an olive fitment on yours mate. not sure tho.
Jrod 7 Posted July 22, 2006 Ok all sorted, was the wrong one. Whoever suggested this clearly didn't have neighbors . Na it's not that bad, as soon as you floor it though my god does it make a noise.
stealth_pug 0 Posted July 24, 2006 This is the same setup i have after just converting my 1.1 to a 1.4. I had to use the 1.4 manifold and downpipe and the centre section and backbox off the 1.1. I don't find it particularly loud although i am still running ther 1.1 carburettor... will this make a difference when i change the carb?
Jrod 7 Posted July 24, 2006 Not sure but I'm not running standard back box so that might be why. Do you need a 1.4 carb? I have one for sale
Guest BrainFluid Posted July 24, 2006 Get the 1.4 Solex 'Double barreled' carburettor with the inlet manifold and top air casing to match. It rocks. You get thrown forwards as if the car had Jedi powers , trust me.
Jrod 7 Posted July 24, 2006 That's the one I've got for sale, off a XS.
