Jer309GTi 3 Posted July 21, 2006 The gearbox on my XS is leading me to believe it's going to blow up soon! There is loads of play in the box when you turn the driveshafts by hand and you can feel the clunk as you take up drive (like the lower engine mount gone) and there was a small lump of metal (looked like part of a tooth from a cog) stuck to the magnet when I changed the oil. Is this likely to be the diff bearings on their way out, or something inside the box? Haven't had any experience of gearbox overhauling so not really sure.
