i am picking up an engine next week (hopefully) (xantia vsx 16v) , and it is an automatic , how easy is it to go to a manual box i.e be1 , or is it possible at all ?providing the new engine is an xu it should mate up right ?

sorry for all the q's but i don't want to drive 120mls to find out it won't fit

cheers

fit an mi16 flywheel instead of the touque converter and it will bolt on no sweat, ive done this several times myself.it will be a 2litre xu normally, i dont think they did a 1.8 vsx.

this may be the s16 engine if your lucky though as i seem to recal most vsx 16v's being that engine.

also the wiring will include electronics for the gearbox and probably abs ect, u only need the engine ecu part of the loom, and immobiliser if its a keypad if desired.

although if its a keypad, you would be advised to decode it before the engine is removed. to do this, start the engine with code as normal, change the code if required for later use to something easy to remember, ie 1111, then disconnect the keypad with the engine running. next time you start it up keep keypad disconected and it will start without a code.

excellent cheers , will the wiring matter if i am creating my own loom to run with emerald manegment , i am not relly sure how an immobilizer works , but if i am not using any existing wiring it wont be immobilized , will it?
