Were's The Best Place To Get Tensioner Pulleys For The Mi?

Recommended Posts

When i rebuilt my engine last year i changed the tensioner pulleys as i think they may have been original with the motor. I opted for some from gsf as they were about half the price of peugeot items. The problem is that they have wined since i have fitted them. I thought i could put up with it but tbh its getting on my t*ts a bit too much so i;m going to have to change them again.

So i'm interested to know were people got their pulleys from and how much were they?

Will i need to change the timing belt also as its only done about 1000 miles since the rebuild

You should always change the belt as its classed as used as soon as you run the engine. As for pullys what about mat at qep? Are you sure the belt isnt to tight as this can cause it to "wine" slightly?

Sounds like you've done the belt too tight, try slackening it off a bit (not too much!) and see if it's any better - if so stick a new belt on it and cover it back up again until the due change or the tensioners start to rumble.

i thought i'd done the belt too tight so i've checked it twice now. Its got to the point now that i feel that if i loosen it anymore it will jump teeth ;). Correct tightness is when you can turn the belt 90 deg on the longest run isn't it? if so then this is how i have it.

I'm also experiencing whine after a cam belt change, this time its not my girlfriend moaning about my driving. I readjusted both tensioners and the noise dissapeared, it was the rear tensioner that was way too tight.

This morning, two massive flat spots developed, and its probably jumped a tooth, so either a tensioner was not properly done up or it was now too lose.

Calling the peugeot garage to see if they can lend me their tensioner tool for a morning.
