inferno 1 Posted July 17, 2006 ive decided to fully rebuild my mi16 lump, i have access to machine shops ect, but the machinist needs to know exactly what i want to do, as he only deals with normal engine work and not performance mods! im looking to run standard management to start with, but will upgrade to DTA or similar later. so what do i need to do to the engine to achieve what realistic power figures? i have searched and a lot of the engine talk is over my head, although i understand a little, i dont know enough to be able to tell the machinist what i want! ill consider using a 2litre steel bottom end with the mi16 head also. engine killer 6 Posted July 18, 2006 i can tell what i have done to my engine in order to achieve high power healthily but i am not 100% sure whether my mod is the best(effective) or not. 1) 45mm throttle bodies 2) ported engine head 3) over bored liners 4) high compression oversized forged pistons 5) fastroad cams 6) custom made 4-2-1 manifold 7) uprated injectors 8) engine management 7) steel conrods 9) balanced crank 10) baffled and trap-doored oil sump 11) uprated oil pump 12) oil cooler my next plan will be: 1) 36.5mm big inlet valve (either from petert or dave baker) 2) extra oil drainage (as cartooner mentioned, but have to see his result first ) i guess most of the gentlemen here have done very similar mod as me. enjoy you mod.
