KRISKARRERA 2 1 Cars Posted July 17, 2006 What model Xantia has he got? I think the VSX was XU10J4.
Anthony 1,003 Posted July 18, 2006 Most Xantia's were the 136hp XU10J4R engine (like the 406 and 306 XSi 16v), but the very early VSX's were the 155hp XU10J4 S16 engine The inlet manifold should give it away.

boombang 2 Posted July 18, 2006 Its an 86 X 86 2 litre. The inlet design is crap and they are rather heavy (cast block rather than wet liner like the 1900) but pretty torquey and nice to drive. In the past people have talked about ditching that manifold and putting a 1900 on - IIRC its the same stud pattern. Then you can either adapt the 1900 throttle body or tig weld on a plate and use the 2000 tb.

Miles 331 1 Cars Posted July 18, 2006 No need to muck around with the Mi one, The GTi 6 inlet is a direct fit with just a couple of sensors to change But the engine is the correct one on ebay
pugpete1108 62 1 Cars Posted July 20, 2006 i have been offered a xzantia vsx engine from an m reg car (still waiting on the engine code) , but its an auto , will this matter or is it just a case of changing the box ( will any be1 box fit?) , does anyone have any opinions on the advantages / dissadvantages of the dry liner vs the wet liners etc. obviously weight is a dissadvantage but is there anything else . will other xu parts interchange betwen the xu9 and the xu10 engines i.e heads manifold etc.
