Quick Clay!

i thought id give this a try today, although the moter doesnt have too many imperfections to the touch, i wanted it to be perfect! yet theres a nice big (well quite tiny actually) bit of sap on the rear quater that the clay wont remove!

 

im using the detailer spray with it, and the light stuff (tar and bugs ect) is coming off. but the heavier sap isnt...

 

my intention was to get the residue off properly before attempting the mguires scratch n swirl remover... however after the quick clay effort i think i might ask the body shop to mop it all over for me :S

 

how do you get your paint perfect again?

 

oh and ive done a search already :S

Try a brillo pad first :blink:

These clays that are on the Halfords type market are a gimmick if you ask me. They're used for imperfections prior to polishing/waxing, but takes alot of time and skill to use them properly, and IMO i'd rather mopa car than faff with clay. Don't ask an expensive bodyshop to mop it, get a friendly local valeter to do it, as long as he knows what he's doing. I have 2 to do tomorrow, a classic merc and an old Audi 80 quattro. :blink:

Meguiars quick clay works perfectly for light stuff, it there's a lot of contamination you might be better with a harsher clay, but I would try several applications of the one you have first, it may take some time to polish the sap off.

I used this on my 405mi the best way is to put it in parm and rub very hard on the same bit and it does work

in the end.

its all good now, i got the tcut color match out, then found some well old wax polish stuf with that natural wax ingredient begining with C...

 

extremely hard work to apply, but the paint looks ten times better, its gleaming about 8 shades from green to black in the sun now!

Only if it's a skilled buffer mate - plenty who aren't out there.

 

Nowt wrong with paint cleaning clay - managed to remove God knows how old bird cr@p off a bonnet last week in about 3 minutes!
