Coil Lead Fried

Recommended Posts

Hello good people, been having a right old good time over last few weekends plasting the Pug. They give me the van at work which is ideal as now the Gti is a proper weekend car!! Ok, so I'm giving it some s*it at about 11 this morning. fine for a few miles then POP the exhaust makes a very loud bang. Car lost power.... engine dies. Try to restart but it wont fire. Open the bonnet to discover than the lead from coil to dizzy has come off, as in ripped the cable apart and the dizzy cap is abit fried! I got it to hold on and she was fine all the way home. Why did it do this? There was no warning at all. I have some £25 silicone leads on, surely this should be ok? 1.6, 1990....

For now i've put my old lead on... dizzy cap on order.

Anyone else had this happen? is it an electrical fault or are the leads not up to the job???

Thanks guys..

Shep

Na bud. It was tight as a nut. I'll replace the lead and cap and wait and see!!
