Anton green 12 1 Cars Posted July 15, 2006 what could the problem be if my 205 is suddenly using a lot more fuel than normal? its a standard mi16 and its running a little rough too?? The cooling system has decided to leak a lot recently, could this be anything to do with my fuel usage probs? (I am replacing pipework this weekend to deal with this..) Thanks in advance, Anton

Thanks in advance, Anton The cooling system leak could be a part of it, but I suspect the engine cooling sensor could be on it's way out. This would make the engine think it's running cold and the mixture would get a lot richer all of the time. Cheers

How might I test this to see if it is the problem?
futura 3 Posted July 19, 2006 I think the testing procedure is described in the Haynes manual. You need to test the resistance value at different temperatures, usually people boil water and chuck the sensor to test it! I have a spare one if you want. I couldnt be bothered testing it, so I just bought a new one (was dear!) and unfortunately for me it didnt sort my starting problems. PM me if you're interested. Simes 248 2 Cars Posted July 20, 2006 ECU temp sensor is £10 from GSF. Save your money on the specialist and just replace the part.
Anton green 12 1 Cars Posted July 20, 2006 been there. could find nothing wrong - its perfect apparently. I can smell fuel sometimes when driving it, so Im now thinking its a petrol leak...
