Convertable Rear Screen

Recommended Posts

Guest MrAsh

One cold night i decided to put my roof down for a drive home with a differance. Not the best idea as i forgot just how brittle the rear screen can get in the cold... i have now been driving about with a large taped up crack at the rear. Pugeot still do the screens but they ask about £200 for them. Does anyone know where to get a cheaper one from, or of any companys who can fix this for me??

If you have any local sailmakers / camping specialists / marquee companies, they should be able to either stitch in a replacement window in your removeable panel or put you in touch with someone who can! I have a rear section that has been repaired in this way-but the surrounding black pvc has gone brittle. As work I sometimes have to erect a couple of 7m sq parasols with weather screens- the guy who supplies these reckons a window could be re-stitched cheaply and easily. If any pubs/restaurants have such parasols, the owners should be able to put you in touch with a company who can do this. (I split one of mine this way but havn't had it repaired yet) - if you can obtain a replacement window section, check that it has the same zip size as yours- I have sections with both fine and coarse toothed zips that are not interchangeable.

Hope you find something of help here.

The screen can be zipped out, and taken to local a car trimmers who can stitch in a new one. If the screen has cracked and it is the original hood, there is a good chance the hood itself will crack and break apart when you remove the screen, or when new screen is sewn in.

Material is called Vyback (sp) and comes in various grades...just whip out the panel and take to a trimmer.
