Ignition Module, Coil & Tdc Sensor

Recommended Posts

What does the dizzy mounted ignition coil do?

does it plug straight into the loom?

does the square coil plug straight into the loom also?

and where does the top dead centre sensor plug into, i have a block mounted sensor, that reads a single hole in the flywheel.

cheers

Never seen a GTiwith a dizzy mounted ignition module but my mums old 405 had one & I'd assume it des the same as the ignition module as the 205 GTi but does away with the fly lead that links them on the 205 one. Can't remember how many pins the ignition module plug had so can't answer if it will plug straight in.

The TDC sensor doesn't connect to anywhere on a Jetronic 205, its used for an accurate rpm reading when connected to the Peugeot diagnostic machine, if it works.

The square coil might plug straight into the loom on a car with inner wing mounted coils but you'd have to find the correct order for the connections.

Graham.

its because ash is using a carb engine and dizzy.

carb engine dizzys and dizzy on 405's engines have a 3 pin ignition module sat on the side of the dizzy.

yes thats right, its not a gti dizzy, so has an ignition module on it,

was just wondering what it did and whether it just plugged straight into the loom of my 1.1 carb engine, there is a lead going into the dizzy i have on the 1.1 which looks as though would plug straight into the XU dizzy??????

what does the ignition module do?????

and as far as i no the coil just plugs straight in the loom, as the 1.1 has the same coil????????????

yep just plug the ignition module and coil ontp your loom.

all the ignition coils have the same connections if its the chunky block like 1.

yes the coil is no problem that has the same connection, because its the same coil.

but i have a black box on my inner wing, which looks like an ignition module. but that doesnt have the same connection as the igntion module on the dizzy

ah so youve got the 5 or 7pin module sat on an aluminium plate on the wing then?

does it have a wire coming of the connector to that ignition module with another connection on the end of that?

yes i think its a 5 pin module on a plate on the wing.

is this the ignition module for the 1.1 engine, so i need to find a connection from before that then, to fit on the ignition module of the 1.6 xu?
