Guest ashnicholls Posted July 13, 2006 (edited) Anyone know where i can get a top dead centre sensor, for a 1.6 carb engine. And a new crank pulley and bolt. Just tried GSF and they have not got either. Cheers Ash Edited July 13, 2006 by ashnicholls

sonofsam 5 Posted July 13, 2006 Top dead center sensor- i have a GTI one on the 'bay at the mo..not sure if its the same as a carb model.
Guest ashnicholls Posted July 13, 2006 its a little black tube, that has a bracket with a wire on it, that detects the cut out in the flywheel as far as im aware. i thought that was the top dead centre sensor, the wire has worn through on it, so thought it would be best replace it. will pop in peugeot garage tomorow then. Guest ashnicholls Posted July 14, 2006 got them sensor was £16 + Vat bolt was £2 + Vat. and for the pulley i was quoted £136 + vat. thats never right? so think i will just clean up the one i have got.
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted July 14, 2006 I was going to say, No point of fitting the sensor as no one uses it, Not even the Pug Garage, Most just use a timing light from Snap On
Guest ashnicholls Posted July 14, 2006 hows that work? so you dont need the top dead centre sensor at all to drive the car?
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted July 14, 2006 Not at all, Not used on the XU carb engines or Injection engines even, Only the Motronic ECU'd car's mainly use the TDC sensor which bolts into the gearbox and reads a toothed flywheel which again the basic XU's do not have
Guest ashnicholls Posted July 14, 2006 eh? that does not make sence, the block i have is an XU carb engine. Which has a little black tube with a wire coming of it, with its own bracket that connects to the block. which as far as i no reads a single hole in the edge of the flywheel? Isn't it just for diagnosis? If your pug techies can be arsed to drag out and dust down that rig they charge you for but never use? (I'm not bitter about a past bill, surely?) Miles 331 1 Cars Posted July 14, 2006 The sensor does mount there, But it's for outdated Pug Dealer Diag machine if they have it now, Most use a snap on timing light. So to sum it up, The sensor is not used by the engine and I dount by any Garage
