It's pretty expensive, no idea how much off the top of my head mind, I have memories (for -16 mind) of something like £120 per metre for Earl's version, I dunno if the fittings are cheaper though as they're not reusable

Took the car home on the trailer (with the straps in my usual place ) and with the help of Chris we pulled the engine back out, split the gearbox off and put it on the stand again. This is the last time it's coming out, next few evenings will be spent painting bits and bobs etc. ready for the engine to go in final and proper like on the weekend!

Also slung the seats in the car (not bolted down yet) to save space in the garage, going to look nice I think

Made some good progress over the weekend, despite several things working against me

 

First we had problems with the manifold (as highlighted in this thread: http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?showtopic=64796)

 

Engine does look funny when sat upright and what manifold (semi) attached, but does highlight the fact you can't fit the engine in from the top with the manifold attached!

 

Once of my mates turned up to 'watch' with his 2 month old girl, trying to get her to show an interest in car and engines in particular at a young age!

 

Anyhow, got the engine in along with driveshafts, clutch cable, gear rods and brakes:

 

We also measured up for the brake pipes to be made up at Merlin Motorsport, and looked at where to position the petrol swirl pot & accessories...

Been down to Merlin Motorsport today and turned this:

Goodridge 200 Series Hose and reuseable fittings... this is ALL the brake pipe in braided with the necessary joins etc. and not that expensive really, when you consider a replacement copper line kit is about £80 and the 3 hose goodridge kit is about £60

Cheers Sean, well the last few things are coming together so yeah it's feeling like it's getting close so am pushing harder! Booked on Donington on the 15th October and REALLY hoping to make that one as Stu (Elise) and Chris (MX5) are doing it as well

 

Fuel lines are the last big thing to buy... want braided but finding the best price...

Yes mate, for regs you have to use 600 series inside the cabin Dunno if it's any cheaper than 200, but it still won't be cheap - get the car built with whatever!

C'mon Jon, get the proper stuff - as most have said to me on here, in for a penny...and all that

 

You've done such a top job on it, you may as well spend the extra on the fuel lines.

Jon, so what did all those braided brake lines cost you? You said the copper and braided bits were 140 pounds . .. . ..

That lot was approx. £200 inc VAT... though as I'm using a bias valve for the rear there is only one pipe running front to back, it then splits by the beam off to the calipers. BUT, doing that adds more connections and at about £7 + VAT each that adds up, pipe is around £6 + VAT per meter.

If you buy a copper pipe 'kiet' all done for you it seems to be about £85ish and the 6 line Goodridge kit is about £90ish... you can obviously do the copper lines far cheaper if you bought the bits and flaring tool etc.

hooray, mini-disaster averted as we managed to save the 4-2-1 Manifold this afternoon. With the use of a vice, welder and some persuasion (and the borrowed Mi16 head from James aka. hman205) we've straightend everything out and it's all fitting nicely:

 

 

 

So with that done I finished off wrapping the exhaust in heat wrap:

 

 

 

I know this stuff is bad for the metal but it works SERIOUSLY well so I'm happy to use it

 

Thank god that has been sorted as I didn't know where I was going to find the money for a new manifold if I had to buy one!

toothbrushes... lol... I'm not one that keeps stuff clean and I enjoy using stuff so it will look great when built but no doubt be a mess soon!

 

Bit more of an exciting post, just taken delivery of the modified dry sump tank (catch tank attached to side) and a custom header tank
