Hosed Engine To Check For Leaks

Recommended Posts

Guest CJG122

I gave the engin bay a hose to clean it out - not the brightest of ideas as I did not cover any electrical connections! :)

My radiator fans no longer turn on.

Occasionally - whilst driving - the engine, for up to 5 seconds will rev high but no response - then it kicks back in.

Any advise/Help !

Got the radiator working. I think it was the ground conection causing the trouble.

"whilst driving - the engine, for up to 5 seconds will rev high but no response - then it kicks back in."

meaning that at random the engin will have no response - as though the battery has cut. Often in 3 rd gear. I give it more throttle and the revs go up but no response. Once changed to 2nd gear I get a little feed back and then after about 5 seconds all is back to normal.

Quite worrying as it happens without warning !

This problem still occured after I had cleaned out the distributor cap and spark plugs. It has not reoccured since I got the radiator fans working - yet.

Getting the engine warm is generally a good way of drying things out (if it runs that long!) I'd also check the spark plugs, if they have water in them it won't help.
