S16 V Mi16, Whats Best/different?

Recommended Posts

have been looking for an mi for quite some time and have just seen a s16 engine for sale and was wondering if it is similar ?, is it a xu? and what sort of power it generates in standard trim? ,or is the mi a better engine?

Mi16 will be much older, but fully rebuilt it will generate more power than an S16 engine. Not too sure but the S16's have about 150bhp, so maybe with a de-cat it'd boost the power up a bit. Best bet is to try a search on this.

Nothing wrong with the S16 engine, I would say it's better due to a stiffer block and a nice 86x86 bore, better torque when the std inlet is binned, Better crank angle for the big end bearings.

Power wise without a Cat I doubt there's much differance between the too

Miles when you say better once you bin the std inlet, as a cheap upgrade would there be advantages running a 1.9 mi or a gti6 one if it would fit?

And if an Mi16 or GTI6 inlet is fitted can it still be run on it's original ecu?

Yep fit the GTi6 Inlet and you use all the std injection parts fromt he old S16 Inlet, The T/B's almost twice as big, It could be made to fit the 1.9 but the TPS would be a problem
