Battery Drain Imobiliser Problems

Recommended Posts

Battery drain seems to be a common problem on teh forum at the moment...

Anyways I have a 309 GTi which is draining batteries.#

Checked for current leakage and I get 40mA which is quite abit, checked alternator interior lamps etc and I've finally laid blame on the imobiliser.

Reet its an Orvel Piranha 2028 it is an alarm / imobiliser / door lock jobby and it seems to plug into 2 green connectors that are in the center console.

Now just disconnecting the box stops the car going of course. But I have traced the problem to the first connector (connector 2 does the door locks etc).

I simply want to remove the whole unit and run with out the alarm or imobiliser and want to know if I can short a few of the wires on the green connector to make it run ???

As far as I can tell the box just has a few relays in it so I cant see it being a problem.

The imporatant wires seem to be 2 green ones that go to 12V when the car is running, and the brown wire that goes to 12Vwhen the imobiliser is off, and a blue wire that only goes to 3.5V when the immobiliser is on (I think this one might have something to do with the flashing LED).

I think the green wires operate some sort of latch in the immobiliser box to stop the imobiliser being switched on when the engine is runnning .

So just wondering if anyone knows what the pins outs for the green connectors are or if anyone has removed a similar sort of alarm before I start twisting wires together <_<

It isnt an urgent problem at the moment cos I have just disconnected the door lock side of the alarm so I can open the doors with a key (yey) and leaving the imobiliser disarmed seems to remove my current drain problem.

(sorry about the long and probably confusing post)
