Coil Problems Maybe?

Recommended Posts

m.i-man

I'm still trying to get the mi16 to run on carbs. I have fuel, but no spark.

I'm running the 8v dizzy, the mi16 ignitition amplifier and a Bosch coil. Does this mean that it is classed as electronic ignition? (don't laugh at my ignorance please!!).

Obviously non electronic ignition can be checked for a spark on the coils output (king lead) to an earth on the body, but this isn't the case with electronic ignition is it? :)

I've put a meter on the king lead from the coil, and it reads 12v all the time the coil is on, but upon cranking it drops to around 10v. Does this mean the coil is knackered? :(

If not, how do I find the fault? I tried earthing the king lead with no spark appearing!!

Help, I'm so baffled!! ;)

Mate that would be special!!

Obviously it's a bit late now as I've been in the garage all night trying to figure the bloody thing out!

Reply in here, or send me a PM when would be best for you, and we can go from there.

Cheers again mate.

Rich.
