Guest Topaz_murray Posted July 5, 2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi all. Just rebuilt my 1.6 gti with standard bits apart from a piper 270 cam. Running ok, although I have a problem with it which is much worse when cold. When acellerating from low revs (pulling off) it splutters and nearly stalls. Sometimes it stalls on overrun too (hot or cold). Could I need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator due to the cam? I will get it rolling roaded but need the problem sorted so I can run it in. The SAD was working fine before I rebuilt the engine. Thought it could be an ignition timing problem but would this be affected by engine temp? Thanks, Matt
Ahl 4 Posted July 5, 2006 That cam isn't terribly different to the standard cam, so it shouldn't cause any problem like that.
boldy205 75 Posted July 5, 2006 as above, id check the timing if your sure everything else is ok.
Guest Topaz_murray Posted July 6, 2006 Engine cuts out when I squeeze the soft pipe at the rear of the SAD so I presume thats working. I fitted a new (2nd hand) thermostat housing, including sensors so I might try fitting my original sensors to see if that makes any difference
