Bilstein Challenge Rear Shocks

Anybody got any experience of these shocks?

 

I was going to get myself some GrpN rears from PTS, but Peter Lloyd reckon there's not much difference between the two. The Challenge shocks are £75/corner and the GrpN are £100+VAT/corner.

 

I've got the challenge front shocks now, waiting to go onto the s*itbox and now looking at tightening up the rear.

PTS rating for the dampers that are currently being used for 205's

 

When you say challenge spec , which are you refering to ?

 

Most of the 205's i know are using the 205 tramac for the woods and the 306 forest for tarmac

306 tarmac are not readily availabel

 

For a road car , i would say that the 205 gravel damper is firm enough as after that it all starts to get bumpy

 

Running 306 forest on fine , purely for then rebound control

I ran the challenge front and rears with Eibach 106 gti front pro springs and 20mm rear bars. By far the best 205 set up i've tried, and i've tried lots!

Didn't know there was a difference between "Challenge" and "GrpN" rear dampers!

 

I have the 205 tarmac rear dampers... they were on there when you had a ride in the car Alan (with PTS forest spec Billies on the front), so you have an idea what to expect :)

I've got the fronts from Peter Lloyd and they certainly look beefier than my Sprints particularly on the rod. I'm guessing that these are Sprint/Sport strut bodies with a specified insert?

These challenge spec items, aren't they aimed at the 205xs boys, not at the 205 challenge itself.

AFAIK They are fixed platform struts that use the same insert design as the coilover versions.

Yep that's on the front, but I didn't know there were two different types of rears?

 

btw although I do like the tarmac rear billies that I've got, I was also perfectly happy with the Koni Sport rear shocks that I had previously, which felt very similar in damping but were a lot cheaper (and adjustable). Only changed them because they weren't within Challenge regs.
