Heat Causing Car Not To Start?

Recommended Posts

Guest Dee-STDT

My car just does not want to start after it's been parked up in work for 8 hours in the blasting heat.

Any other time i start it up even after being left on the driveway for 12/16 hours it starts perfectly.

Why does this happen and is there any i can do to prevent this happening?? (there is no shade in work car park to park car in either)

i some times have this happen (1.6gti). i read in the owners manual that you are supposed to start the engine, when weather is warm, with the accelerator fully depressed. Something to do with the fuel evaporating before it can ignite. i think.

Although if yours is a oil burner i'm not sure why tbh. :)

does it turn over and not fire or does it just do nothing at all?

BTW holding the accellerator down to evaporate fuel wont make any difference to a diesel as there is no throttle butterfly preventing evaporation from occuring in the first place...
