steve@cornwall 100 Posted July 3, 2006 Pulling away from work tonight in the cti-it gave a couple of massive bunny hops , folowed by a stench of fuel. Opened the bonnet and fuel was spraying from the pressure reg- inspection showed the rail/reg. grommet was split to hell! Easy fix as I still had the yellow injectors I removed in the boot to donate a seal, but why should this happen? Must have been trapped when put on, but I can't see why it should give way so suddenly and don't want it to happen again so any ideas gratefully received. (fuel rail and reg. both securely fixed and been on for 500 miles approx)
Jonmurgie 2 Posted July 4, 2006 Perhaps the rubber seal had been pinched a whie back if the FPR has been off the fuel rail... always a good idea to use some Petroleum Jelly (Vasoline) to help fit things like that and injectors as it's petrol based and evaporates as soon as it gets warm but helps the rubber seals slid into place smoothly
